Commentary
And when the oneness became like the sun; and all that is in the universe - although it indicates oneness - is a blessing for humanity; he must thank it; he began to enumerate that; as a reminder to him of the obligation of gratitude by disassociating from disbelief; so he said - preferring the animals; because they are more noble than others; and he presented from them what benefits humanity; because it is more exalted than others; beginning with what is most deserving of mention; because it has the greatest benefit in the necessities of life; and it is most obligatory for those to whom the reminder was revealed in their language -: "And the grazing livestock"; meaning: the eight pairs: the sheep; and the goats; and the camels; and the cattle; "He created them"; non-speaking; nor clarifying; despite their being greater than you in creation; and stronger in power.
And when the first thing that a person usually encounters from its blessings is clothing; he began with it; so he said - in the manner of resuming -: "For you in them is warmth"; meaning: what keeps you warm; so there is a moderate heat from the body that is covered by clothing; preventing the cold; and he seconded with what encompasses all its blessings; among which is milk; so he said: "And benefits"; then he thirded with food; because it comes after that; so he said (the Exalted): "And from it you eat"; and he presented the context; indicating that eating from other than it is not considered in comparison to eating from it.
