Commentary
Then he urged adherence to piety by indicating that the lesson is in the state of death. He said (the Most High): ﴿Those whom the angels take in death﴾; meaning: they seize their souls fully without any deficiency in the soul; or in the meanings - as indicated by the affirmation of the two letters 'taa' and the clarity. ﴿The angels are pure﴾; meaning: they are free from the injustice of themselves by disbelief; adorned with the adornment of faith. It is as if it were said: What do the angels say to them? It was said: ﴿They say﴾; meaning: repeating for emphasis; calming what they were created upon of glorifying the majesty of Allah through piety. ﴿Peace be upon you﴾; and it is said to them to affirm their success: ﴿Enter Paradise﴾; meaning: the abode of delight; which has no equal. ﴿For what you used to do﴾; meaning: by nature; and disposition; ﴿You used to do﴾; encouraging them towards the deeds that they can only achieve by the mercy of Allah for them; through His granting them success in it.
