And when they distorted their doubts; He established for them what they had thrown at Him; and He is innocent of it; confined to them. So He said (glorified and exalted is He): "Indeed, those who do not believe are the ones who fabricate lies"; meaning: they deliberately intend to lie; "about the signs of Allah"; meaning: the One who has all perfection. For their rejection when the proof was established that it is the truth; and they were unable to refute it; is a deliberate act of lying from them. Then He confined the lie to them; so He said: "And those are"; meaning: the distant ones; the hated ones; "they are"; meaning: specifically; "the liars"; meaning: those deeply rooted in lying; outwardly and inwardly.
