And when that was completed, He caused their end to be cut off by His saying (exalted is He): "So they were seized"; meaning: a seizing of vengeance and dominance; "the cry"; meaning: that which is due to its greatness and horror, it is the cry; and other than it is nothing in comparison to it; and the seizing: an action by which the thing becomes in the direction of the doer; and the cry: a sound that comes out of the mouth with intensity; and His saying: "entering"; meaning: entering into the brightness; which is the light of the sun; at its rising; and it is made clear by this that its time is called morning in language; for the morning; and the dawn; and the act of morning; is the beginning of the day; and perhaps it is referred to until the time of lunch; or noon; or the cry could be at the time of brightness at the end of their affair; and the uprooting of the cities from their places at the time of morning is the beginning of their affair.
