Commentary
Then when he answered them with this response indicating the completeness of ability and the perfection of knowledge, both indicating oneness, he turned to what had preceded, stating that it is in the strength of the spoken word; his saying (p-19) indicates their abandonment of the answer to obstinacy and foolishness: ﴿And they said﴾; meaning: they did not allow that they would desire that; rather, they continued in their stubbornness. And they said: ﴿O you who﴾; and when their denial of the revelation itself was established, he built for the action his saying: ﴿It was revealed to him﴾; meaning: by their claim; ﴿the Reminder﴾; and they clarified that they did not name it revelation except in mockery. So they said - confirming their knowledge that their saying is rejected -: ﴿Indeed, you are surely insane﴾; meaning: because of your claim that Allah has revealed to you a Reminder; and what you see is a jinn throwing to you confusion. So this was evidence of their obstinacy; for they established insults in place of the answer regarding what had passed, the act of the defeated who is cut off in debate.
