So when the good news was confirmed; and he saw their coming together in a manner that the angel does not come for revelation; and he, along with others who know Allah; knowing that the angels are not sent down except with the truth; this was a reason for him to ask them about their matter; so that all of his fear would be removed; for this reason he said, "What is your matter?"; with the letter of causation; "Your matter"; Abu Hayyan said: and "the matter" is rarely mentioned except in a serious affair; it has ended; and Al-Rummani said: it is the great matter; "O you messengers"; for you have not come except for a great matter; which will be a decisive factor between the doomed and the saved.
