And when the understanding from this context is that the one who is saved is indeed the pious, the sincere; the one upon whom the devil has no authority. And the understanding of the sincere is: the one who has no blemish in him. And man is a place of deficiency; and his falling into deficiency is contrary to fulfilling the right of piety and sincerity. And perhaps this would cause him despair from happiness; thus it necessitated for him to persist in distance. Allah - glorified and exalted is He - said in response to one who might have said: What is the state of one who does not fulfill the right of piety? -: 'Inform My servants'; meaning: inform them with a great announcement; 'that I am'; meaning: alone; 'the Forgiving, the Merciful'; meaning: the one whose erasure encompasses sins; and His honoring of whoever He wills with all that He wills; there is no objection from anyone against Him.
