So it is as if it were said: Then what was the response? It was said: Allah; in His response; refuting what his words implied about having an action that stands independently; denying it: This; meaning: what you mentioned about the state of the exception; and that which is excepted from it: A straight path is upon Me; because I have decreed it; and even if you did not say it; and I have judged it for you and for them; there is no escape for you from it; so it is as if it were said: It is upon Me to establish it; or it is stated to Me that there is no deviation for those who traverse it from returning to Me; and passing by Me; meaning that no one is able to do anything without My will; for I am on the lookout.
