Commentary
And he cut off what he had composed with deceit; he said: "to"; and when "the Day" is what the evident matter is completed in; and the terrifying days were three: the time of the death of the living who are leaving the abode of eternity; then the resurrection of the dead; then the separation between them by placing each group in its abode; he said: "Day"; and when the time is the clearest of the terms of time regarding the appointed time; he said: "the time"; and when he had composed in his question this composition that suggested his ignorance regarding the inevitability of death upon every accountable being; he clarified (glorified and exalted is He) that it is something that is not unknown; so he said: "the known"; meaning: the time I have decreed for you to die in; and it is the first blow; and what follows it from the death of every creature that was not in the abode of eternity.
