And when it became known from this that his cursing would continue; because he was prevented from drawing near in the abode of action; and what comes after that is the place of recompense, not of action; and that was indicative of his request for a respite until that limit; and it appeared that his cursing was meant by it; it was as if it were said: So what did he say when he heard that? It was said: He said; mentioning the attribute of kindness; and the reason for asking for the respite: 'My Lord'; so he acknowledged servitude; and kindness to Him; and that did not lead him to repentance for the ruling of his continued cursing; so no one should hope for the faith of one whose disbelief is sealed by the response to what he proposes; and he came with the conjunction of the reason; for what was understood from the decree; so he said: 'So grant me respite'; and the respite is the delay of the one in need of consideration regarding his matter; 'until the Day they are resurrected'; so he carried the Day of Judgment upon its reality; and he intended to clarify the request for respite to him; so that he may be safe from death;
