And when he emphasized what he made understood to the gathering, he excluded; he said: "Except for Iblis." It was said: (And it was said: Rather - because he was one among them; added to them; acting with their actions - he was among them; so it was as if he was one of them; thus his exclusion was correct for that reason; as if it was said: What did he do? And it was said - in astonishment at his opposition -: "He refused to be"; meaning: due to a deficiency in his nature; "of the prostrators" [Al-Hijr: 98]; or he did not say: So he refused - by conjunction -; because the exclusion is disconnected; for indeed Iblis is from fire; and the angels are from light; and they do not eat; nor drink; nor marry; unlike him;
