Commentary

And when the blessing of existence is sufficient for the sincerity of worship to the Creator; then the people of misguidance did not consider it; He (glorified and exalted is He) pointed to a blessing that is greater than it; which is the preference over all creatures in a clear manner for the reason of misguidance; He said - adding to what you are to understand: "Remember this, for it is enough in the intended purpose for everyone with understanding" -: ﴿And when﴾; meaning: and remember your Lord's saying when; ﴿Your Lord said﴾; meaning: the One who does good to you by honoring your father Adam - blessings be upon him - to honor you; ﴿to the angels﴾; and since it is something that requires confirmation; He emphasized it; saying: ﴿Indeed, I am creating a human﴾; meaning: an animal not clothed in the human form by what He made upon it from nature in the human shape; ﴿from clay﴾; meaning: dry clay; ﴿from black, fetid mud﴾; meaning: foul-smelling clay; ﴿formed﴾; meaning: shaped in the form of a human in its hollow; and its limbs; as if it is poured into a mold; Al-Rummani said: and its origin is the continuity in a direction from their saying: "in a single manner."
