And when what he intended regarding their unification was completed, and he concluded by stating that He, glorified and exalted is He, does what He wills of advancement and delay, erasure and affirmation. Among their suggestions and requests was the mockery of hastening the evil that they were warned of. The soul might have wished for the occurrence of that for some and its affirmation so that others would believe, in order to resolve the dispute. He, glorified and exalted is He, said: ﴿And if We show you﴾, He emphasized it to affirm the notification that there is no blame upon him for the misguidance of those who go astray after conveying the message. This negates what is carried by him, blessings and peace be upon him, of great mercy for them and his compassion for them from the assumption that it is upon him to necessarily guide them to the truth. ﴿Some of what We promise them﴾, and you are alive with what you want or your companions want. He concluded the matter with it, so its occurrence was established as a confirmation for your eyes before your death. The promise is the news of a guaranteed good, and the warning is the news of a guaranteed evil. The meaning here is upon him, and he called it a promise to denote their request for its descent to the status of a promise. ﴿Or We take you﴾ before We show you that, and it is the erased effect that has not been realized. What is upon you and what is towards us is equal in relation to both situations. ﴿So upon you is the conveying﴾, which is the passing of the matter to its end, and here it is the message. And it is not upon you to fight them nor to bring them suggestions. ﴿And upon Us is the reckoning﴾, which is the recompense for every doer for what he has done in this world and the Hereafter, and we have complete power over it. And the verse is from the intertwining - as was previously explained in its like from [Surah Yunus], peace be upon him.
