And when he mentioned what is for the saved, he mentioned the outcome of the doomed and said: "And those who break the covenant of Allah" meaning the Sovereign, the Most High, and they act contrary to what it necessitates; and breaking is the separation that negates the unity of the structure. And since breaking is harmful even if it is in the slightest part, he included the neighbor and said: "After its covenant" meaning that which He bound them to by what He granted them of intellects and placed within them of strength to arrange the productive premises for the righteous objectives that indicate the correctness of all that His messengers have informed about, blessings and peace be upon them, and greetings and honor; and the covenant is the firmness of the contract in the most eloquent manner possible in such a case. "And they cut off what" meaning the thing that "Allah has commanded" meaning without considering what it has of greatness and majesty, and he turned away from [that] to what was mentioned earlier closely and said: "By it to be connected" meaning to what it has of clear and hidden virtues that are the essence of righteousness. "And they cause corruption" meaning they bring about corruption "in the earth" meaning in any part of it by severing what Allah has commanded to be connected, following their desires, turning away from the evidence of their intellects, and disregarding the vengeance of the Most Exalted. And when they were like that, they deserved the opposite of what was previously mentioned for the righteous, and that is expulsion, punishment, anger, retribution, and the ill-fated encounter. So He, glorified and exalted is He, said: "Those are" meaning the distant and detestable ones, "for them is the curse" meaning expulsion and distance, "and for them is the evil abode" meaning that their final abode will be bad due to what brings them sorrow in it without what brings them joy.
