لِلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَجَابُواْ لِرَبِّهِمُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَمۡ يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لَهُۥ لَوۡ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِيعٗا وَمِثۡلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفۡتَدَوۡاْ بِهِۦٓۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ وَمَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمِهَادُ ١٨ ﴿18
18For those who obey their Lord there is the best of rewards; and those who do not obey Him (shall be in such a plight that) even if they possess all that is on earth, rather twice as much, they would offer it in ransom (to redeem themselves from the punishment). For these there is the worst of reckoning, and their abode is Hell, which is an evil bed to rest.

'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' And when what is for truth and falsehood in their souls has been completed, he mentioned what is for their people of reward and punishment in response to one who seems to say: 'What is for one who reflects on these parables, and distances himself from what they indicate of misguidance, or deviates from what they call to and inclines?' So it was answered by his saying: ﴿For those who responded﴾ meaning they sought from themselves the response and brought it forth ﴿to their Lord﴾ meaning the One who is good to them in gratitude to Him. The state ﴿is the best﴾ meaning the great in goodness, and it is the abode in Paradise, for that is their reward. Abu Hayyan said: And that is victory in this world and what they have been granted of His blessings, glorified and exalted is He, and entering Paradise in the Hereafter - it has ended. And it has been previously mentioned in [Surah Yunus] blessings and peace be upon him that they will be given more than what only He who did that knows the extent of, out of fear of His punishment and hope for His reward. So it was said - indicating that He does not accept from them the ransom even if it is great -: ﴿Those﴾ meaning the far removed, the hated ﴿for them is a bad reckoning﴾ and reckoning is the counting of what is upon the servant and for him, and the bad accountability, and the lack of pardon for anything ﴿and their abode﴾ meaning their resting place ﴿is Hell﴾ meaning the level into which they will enter with frowning and scowling. And when the abode is only what its owner seeks refuge in for comfort by leaning on a bedding and the like, he expressed it with the totality of blame: ﴿And wretched is the resting place﴾.
