So Allah confirmed his saying and realized his feelings. They hurried to him with the good news, and he rushed after the intervals. For this reason, he expressed it with the letter 'fa' in ﴿فَلَمّا﴾, and 'an' was added for the confirmation of his coming in that state. The addition of it is a consistent analogy. ﴿جاءَ البَشِيرُ﴾, and he is indeed with that, along with the shirt ﴿ألْقاهُ﴾, meaning the shirt when he arrived at Jacob, blessings and peace be upon him, without any interval between the beginning of the coming and between it, as the addition of 'an' informed him to confirm what 'lam' indicates regarding the occurrence of the second interval, which here is the throwing after the first and its arrangement upon it, and here it is the coming ﴿عَلى وجْهِهِ﴾, meaning Jacob, blessings and peace be upon him, ﴿فارْتَدَّ﴾ from his time ﴿بَصِيرًا﴾. And the return is the reversal of something to a state it was in. The thought turned to his state with his loss. So Allah, glorified and exalted is He, informed about that with His saying, beginning: 'He said,' meaning Jacob, blessings and peace be upon him, ﴿ألَمْ أقُلْ لَكُمْ﴾, 'Indeed, I find his scent.' Then he explained this assertion with his saying, confirming that their saying is the saying of one who denies: ﴿إنِّي أعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ﴾, meaning the One who is characterized by the attributes of perfection, ﴿ما لا تَعْلَمُونَ﴾, for what He has specifically granted me, glorified and exalted is He, of types of gifts. And this is general for the news of Joseph, blessings and peace be upon him, and others, and it is from the reporting of the grace of Allah.
