And when that was the case, the listener anticipated what would happen between him and his brothers. Would he conceal the vision from them or inform them of it? And in either scenario, what would happen? So he said in response to one who seemed to ask: What was their affair? - Opening for him with a letter of expectation and affirmation after the letter of the oath, emphasizing the matter and informing that it is in the most precise manner -: "Indeed, it was" meaning a being that is in its most precise places "in Yusuf and his brothers" meaning because of this vision and what was of its interpretation and the reasons for that "Signs" meaning great signs indicating the Oneness of Allah, the Exalted, and the Prophethood of Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, and other matters included in the story "for those who ask" [meaning] those who inquire about it from Quraysh and the Jews and others. And the signs of the greatness of Allah and His power in affirming the vision of Yusuf, may peace and blessings be upon him, and his salvation from those who plotted against him and his protection and the elevation of his matter. And the intended brothers here are the ten who are from his father, and they are: Reuben and Simeon - with a geminated first letter, and Levi, and Judah, and Zilpah - with a z and a geminated letter, and Issachar, with a broken hamzah and a lower case s and a silent kh. And Dan - with a silent letter, and Gad - with a g. Between them and the kaf, and Asher - with a prolonged hamzah and a geminated sh, then a lower case and a silent letter. And Naphtali - with an open n and a silent f and a dual letter above it and a l followed by a y. And his brother Benjamin - with a damm of the geminated letter, thus he mentioned them in the Torah. And I have clarified the pronunciation of them from the scholars regarding it, and that has preceded in Al-Baqarah with an addition. And the verse: the indication of what was of the great matters, and similar to it is the sign and the lesson, [and] the proof is more specific than it, because it is the basis of the evidence that necessitates trust in the correctness of the meaning in which there is a wonder.
