Commentary
And when this was a reminder for the cupbearer about Yusuf, blessings and peace be upon him - (p-111) Allah, glorified and exalted is He, informed that he remembered him after forgetting him. He said, justly, about the conjunction, indicating that he is from the angels: ﴿And said the one who was saved﴾, meaning he was rescued from destruction, "from the two" meaning from the two companions of the prison, and he is the cupbearer. And the situation is that he "remembered" - with the omitted letter, meaning he sought the remembrance - with the pronounced letter, its form is Iftaal. ﴿After a period﴾ from the times, meaning long periods of time. ﴿I will inform you﴾, meaning I will tell you with great news ﴿of its interpretation﴾, meaning with the explanation of what this dream leads to, as is the truth. And the reason for his words is his saying: ﴿So send me﴾, meaning to Yusuf, blessings and peace be upon him, for he is the most knowledgeable of people. So send him to me; Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: And the prison was not in the city.
