Commentary
So it is as if it was said: What did the wife of the Aziz say to them? It was said: "She said: So that is the young man of very high status, whom you blamed me for."
And when she knew that they had excused her, she said, affirming while indulging in her love for him: "And indeed, I say this while I swear by Allah that I have certainly realized that I attempted to seduce him, meaning to reach him with what I desire. He resisted, meaning he found the protection and refusal against me, and his resistance intensified. I am not going to turn back from him; then she threatened him while he could hear, so that he would yield. She said to them, affirming that her state of love necessitates denial of doing what would harm the beloved: "And if he does not do this, meaning this young man for whom my excuse stands with you, what I commanded him, he will certainly be imprisoned, meaning he will be prevented from acting by being imprisoned with the least effort from me. And since her determination to imprison him was stronger than the determination to inflict humiliation upon him, she confirmed it with the heavy noon and said: "And he will certainly be among the humiliated," meaning the lowly, or that the emphasis on imprisonment is because it necessitates his removal, and removing the beloved is more deserving of denial than humiliating him. So the women said to him: Obey her so that she does not imprison you and humiliate you.
