And he opened for them a door by which they could argue when acting upon what is intended by his saying, combining between the hardship of the inner and the calamity, as they said - confirmed by the logic: 'And I fear,' meaning: if you take him away and engage in what you mentioned, 'that the wolf may eat him,' meaning: this type was as if it was abundant in their land, 'while you are unaware of him,' meaning: specifically, 'oblivious,' meaning: drowning in heedlessness due to your focus on what concerns you from the interests of the grazing; and sadness is: the pain of the heart from what has occurred from the separation of the beloved, and it intensifies if the separation is towards what is disliked; and eating is: the cutting of food by chewing, which is followed by swallowing.
