Commentary
Then he clarified the lack of guidance in the matter of Pharaoh by his saying: ﴿He leads his people﴾, meaning those who had the strength of defense ﴿on the Day of Resurrection﴾ and they will be his followers just as they were in this world. He indicated by mentioning what is rightfully in the present tense, referring to the realization of its occurrence as it has happened and passed, so he said: ﴿And he brought them to the Fire﴾, meaning: just as he brought them in this world to its covering, which is the sea. And since the estimation is: how evil are the ones who are brought, he added to it a clarification of the action and the object, so he said: ﴿And how evil is the water that is brought﴾, just as the sea when they approached it is the worst water that a person has ever approached, because the water is intended to quench thirst and cool the insides, and this indicates the opposite of that.
