Commentary
And they followed all together after their destruction in the easiest manner due to the great power of the follower. In this world, he belittled it in this statement by what the indication pointed to along with the diminutive, and by what indicated the lowliness. And whoever is deceived by it is among those who stood with the witness for what he has of rigidity. A curse, meaning: expulsion, distance, and destruction. And on the Day of Resurrection, likewise, but even more severe. It is as if it was said: Is there no remedy for their affliction? It was said: No, 'Al-la' opening the news about them with this tool which is only mentioned before a statement that is of great significance and serious matter. The emphasis in the news of their disbelief is a confirmation of their state, and in it are evidences of prophethood and signs of the message, a response to a group that has arisen close to our time who approve all sects and specifically mention 'Aad for the reason that they are enriched by saying: Indeed, they are among those who are close to Allah and that they are in the very pleasure from Him. So Allah is the one asked for victory over them and healing of the chests from them. They are the followers of Ibn 'Arabi, the disbeliever, the obstinate, the people of union, openly committing great disbelief, and belittling the Lord of the servants. For this reason, He, the Most High, said clarifying their state with a clear statement: 'Indeed, 'Aad disbelieved.' And He did not limit the action, but rather extended it in magnification of their tyranny, so He said: 'Their Lord,' meaning: they covered all the lights of the apparent which cannot be hidden at all because there is no blessing upon a creature except from Him. Their disbelief was the most severe of disbelief, and despite that, Hud, peace be upon him, did not waver from conveying to them all that he was commanded with nor did he leave anything of what was revealed to him. So for him is a good example, and in them is a role model. And whoever disbelieves in the one who has done good to him is distanced, a distance with no closeness with it.
And when the matter was great and the affair serious, He repeated the tool that is said in serious matters, so He said: 'Al-la distance for 'Aad.' It is from 'ba'da' - with the breaking of the 'ain' when its distance is by destruction. And He clarified them by saying: 'The people of Hud,' confirming for them that they are two 'Aads: the first and the last. And an allusion to their deserving of being distanced by what happened to Hud, peace be upon him, with them from denial and the supplication against them after destruction, a metaphor for informing that they were deserving of destruction. And denial is the news of what is known to be true that he does not know it, and it is the opposite of acknowledgment just as negation is the opposite of affirmation. So it is news by mere absence, thus it is more general. And disobedience is contrary to what was commanded by the caller on the path of obligation. And the curse is the supplication for expulsion, and its origin is expulsion from good. And following is making the second upon the trace of the first, and conveying is more specific than it. And what is meant here is reaching it for them; for the one who decreed that is capable and has inflicted upon them the punishment of this world, distancing them from the places of mercy.
