So plot against me, while you are all together, meaning: individually if you wish or collectively, you and your gods.

And when the hastening in war is more severe, and its matter is more difficult and dangerous, He clarified its greatness with a tool of delay by saying: ﴿Then do not give me respite﴾. And the plotting is: seeking vengeance secretly in a cunning way. And this verse is one of the clear signs of prophethood for Hud, peace be upon him. It is as if it was said: Suppose that our gods are nothing, what has led you to dare to oppose us while we are numerous and strong, and you are nothing more than one of us? He said: ﴿Indeed, I﴾ meaning: I dared to do that because I ﴿have relied﴾ depending ﴿on Allah﴾, the Sovereign, whose punishment is feared, and there is no king besides Him nor lord other than Him; and He clarified the encompassing nature of His sovereignty by saying: ﴿My Lord and your Lord﴾, meaning: the One who created us and arranged our affairs before creating us, so He knew what each of us would do regarding the Hereafter; because ﴿there is no creature﴾ meaning: whether small or large ﴿except that He takes﴾ meaning: a taking of overpowering and dominance ﴿by its forelock﴾ meaning: He is capable over it. And taking by the forelock has become a common expression of power, because all are compelled by His will, not by their own will, and no one can escape from some dislike of what they are in. This certainly indicates that it is against their will, but rather it is by a dominating will that has compelled them to that, and He is the Most High King, glorified is He; and the forelock is: the hair at the front of the head. Whoever is taken by his forelock has submitted to His taking and cannot lean away. ﴿Indeed﴾ meaning: because ﴿my Lord﴾ meaning: the One who has done good to me by placing me in this ﴿on a straight path﴾ meaning: a wide, clear way ﴿straight﴾, its matter is apparent to everyone, there is no ambiguity in it at all, nor flaw, nor confusion, nor deviation in any way. Therefore, everyone in existence worships Him, calls upon Him, fears Him, and hopes for Him, even if some of them have taken partners besides Him. As for what is worshipped besides Him, no one honors it except its worshipper, and as for those who do not worship Him, they do not regard it at all; thus it is confirmed that He is dominant over everything [with a dominance] that is known by every existent without any concealment at all. He is hoped for and feared by the consensus of the wise, unlike your deities. The result is that the straight path must be apparent, so there must be no disagreement due to the absence of ambiguity. Whoever is upon it is of high status, famous in the matter, insightful regarding what he intends, with steadfastness and strength, feared in outcome, sought after in following and love. Whoever does not turn to Him has gone astray, and whoever turns away from Him is taken due to the abundance of His supporters and the might of His dominion. Thus, His power has manifested over the protection of those who rely upon Him and the inability of their deities with them, because the forelocks of all are in His hand, and He is their Lord, and the Lord of everything. The conclusion of the verse has applied to their saying: ﴿You did not come to us with a clear proof﴾ [Hud: 53] as a response to him, because whoever is upon a straight path, nothing is clearer than his matter. And in his response regarding his reliance and what is in his possession, it is the most complete application; and the forelock is: the front hair of the head, and its origin is the connection from their saying: a place of victory that is connected to another place of victory.
