And when that which is sufficient for the purpose of the surah was completed, and it was concluded that the outcome is always for the righteous, he followed with evidence for that from the stories of the prophets, along with fulfilling what the story of Noah - blessings and peace be upon him - was presented for, which is the encouragement to openly warn. So Allah, the Most High, said: "And to" meaning: And indeed We sent to "‘Aad their brother" and clarified it by saying: "Hud." And when the matter of Noah with his people had preceded, the listener was eager to know what Hud - blessings and peace be upon him - said, whether it was similar to what he said or not. So he began the response by saying: "He said, O my people," those who are the most honored of people to me, "Worship Allah," meaning: the Possessor of Glory and Honor alone; then he stated and explained by saying: "What is [the matter] with you" and he emphasized the negation by saying: "of a god" meaning: a deity that is truly worshipped "other than Him." He called to the essence of the religion as is the custom of all prophets and messengers; then he concluded that by confronting them with what would distress them from the truth, and what deterred him from that was neither hope nor fear. He said: "Indeed," meaning: [what] "you are only inventors" meaning: deliberately lying against Allah in your associating partners with Him, glorified and exalted is He, for the evidence for monotheism is not hidden from a rational person, so how about with the reminder of transmission! And that is a denial for whoever associated partners, meaning: so beware of the punishment of the inventor.
