Commentary

And when he threatened the disbelievers and informed about their outcome because of it, it was appropriate to ask about the state of the believers. So he said: "Indeed, those who believed"; that is, they brought forth this truth, "and did righteous deeds." And since what has been described of the disbelievers was the complete abandonment of their Lord and their aversion to the One who is good to them, with harshness and severity, he described the believers as turning towards Him and being at peace with Him. So he said: "And they humbled themselves"; that is, they were humble, turning towards their Lord, the One who is good to them. They thanked Him, and He granted them the ability to hear and see.

And when he mentioned their description, he mentioned their reward by saying: "Those are"; that is, of the highest rank, "the companions of Paradise." And since they are specifically destined for it, or for eternity from the very beginning, he repeated the pronoun and said: "They are in it"; that is, exclusively, not in anything else, "forever."
