Then he detailed their oppression by his saying: ﴿Those who turn away﴾ meaning: they turn away in themselves and prevent others ﴿from the path of﴾ (p-256) meaning the religion of ﴿Allah﴾ meaning [the King] who has all perfection, while He is the Praiseworthy Guardian. ﴿And they seek﴾ meaning: they want by the path of the religion to be wide and easy ﴿twisted﴾ by casting doubts and attacking the evidence, despite it being in the utmost straightness.

And when the scrutiny was intense regarding the clarification of their lies and their denial, emphasis was placed on his saying: ﴿And they﴾ meaning: with their inner selves and their outward appearances; and when their denial of the Hereafter was severe, he preceded his saying: ﴿of the Hereafter﴾ and repeated the pronoun for emphasis to specify them and to affirm the utmost corruption of their inner selves and their specialty with increased disbelief. [He said]: ﴿They are disbelievers﴾ meaning: deeply rooted in this description; and the presentation is the manifestation of something in a way that it is seen for the purpose of stopping at a state; and the turning away is the prevention by the temptation that diverts from the matter; and the seeking is the request for a matter from matters, which is the desire to find meaning in what one hopes for; and the twisting is the deviation from the path of correctness, and it is in meaning like the religion with a kasra, and in other contexts like the return with a fatha, distinguishing between what is seen and what is not seen. They made the easy for the easy and the difficult for the difficult; Al-Bukhari narrated in the tafsir from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them, that the Prophet ﷺ said in the private conversation: "The believer will be brought close to his Lord until He places His cloak upon him and He will remind him of his sins: 'Do you recognize such and such sin?' He will say: 'I recognize, my Lord, I recognize' - twice, and He will say: 'I concealed it for you in the world and I will forgive it for you today.' Then He will fold the record of his good deeds, and as for the others or the disbelievers, it will be announced before the heads of the witnesses: ﴿These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Indeed, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers﴾ [Hud: 18].
