Commentary
And when He clarified their state in this world, He clarified their state in the Hereafter, indicating by a tool of distance that they are the people of distance, curse, and expulsion in His saying, as a result of what preceded: ﴿Those are﴾ meaning the distant and detestable ones ﴿who have nothing﴾ meaning: anything of the things ﴿in the Hereafter except the Fire﴾ meaning: for the evil of their deeds and their receiving its recompense in this world ﴿And their deeds have failed﴾ [meaning: have become void and corrupted] ﴿what they did in it﴾ (p-252) meaning: their production or their work, meaning: for being built on no foundation; and when the restriction of the failure to the Hereafter might imply that it is something in itself, He said: ﴿And worthless﴾ meaning: the established worthlessness in each of the two abodes ﴿is what they used to do﴾ meaning: their deeds or their work, even if they were persistent in it like one who is naturally inclined to it, for it is a form that has no meaning for being built on no foundation; and adornment: the beautification of something by another, whether by clothing, ornament, or appearance; and fulfillment: the performance of the right completely; and the failure of the deed: its nullification, from their saying: his belly has failed - if it has corrupted due to bad food.
