Commentary
And when the intention behind this type was made clear, and among the disbelievers were those who conceal their disbelief, He made them known by signs that arise from the pillar of disbelief that they issued from and from which they branch out, exposing them and indicating them even if they strive to conceal and clarify themselves. So He said, causing to arise from the disbelief what indicates it: ﴿So that is﴾ meaning the detestable, far from all good ﴿that drives﴾ meaning pushes forcefully with utmost harshness ﴿the orphan﴾ and wrongs him and does not encourage honoring him because Allah, the Exalted, has removed mercy from his heart, and He does not remove it except from the wretched, for there is no motivator for kindness towards him except the fear of Allah, glorified and exalted is He. Thus, disbelief in his recompense was a cause for harshness [upon him -].
