(p-275) Surah Al-Din, also known as 'Have you seen?' and 'The Denial' and 'The Small Kindnesses'. Its purpose is to alert to the fact that denial of resurrection for the sake of recompense is the father of all evils. For it leads the denier to the worst of morals and the most abominable actions, until disdain for the great becomes a trait of his, and he becomes among those who have no share in goodness. Each of its four names is extremely clear in indicating this upon reflecting on the surah to know these mentioned matters. It explicitly forbids the abominable actions, while inviting to the noble qualities through its understanding and hinting at 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful', whose greatness is exalted above any blemish of deficiency, thus He possesses all perfection. 'The Most Gracious', whose grace encompasses both the good-doer and the wrongdoer, thus He has overwhelmed all with His bounty. So, among this category, in my view - and Allah knows best - is His saying, glorified and exalted is He: ﴿Have you seen the one who denies the religion?﴾ ﴿So that is the one who drives away the orphan﴾ [Al-Ma'un: 2], meaning that these attributes of driving away the orphan and being distant from compassion towards him, and not encouraging feeding him, and being heedless of the prayer, and showing off in deeds, and withholding needs, all of this is characteristic of the one who denies accountability and reward. For the benefit of distancing oneself from them is only then, so whoever believes in it acts in accordance with these traits on the path of the praiseworthy and the blessed effort, and whoever denies it does not care for them and embraces all of them. So, O believers, keep yourselves away from them, for they are not among your attributes in the essence of your faith that you pledged upon. Whoever resembles a people is indeed one of them. So beware of these vices, for driving away the orphan is from the arrogance that destroyed the companions of the elephant, and not encouraging feeding him is indeed the act of the miser who thinks that his wealth will make him immortal, and being heedless of the prayers is among the fruits of being preoccupied with competition in wealth, and being busy with money and children. So He prohibited His servants from these messages that are produced by what has preceded and the surahs have converged - it has ended.
