Commentary
And when this reckoning is so severe and indicates its weakness, it does not require establishing evidence for its invalidity. It suffices in it with the tool of deterrence that encompasses every rebuke, and He said: ﴿No﴾ meaning what he has reckoned will not be, for he will not have what is not for others of its like, rather he will die as every living creature created dies.
And when it is as if it were said: What will be done with him after death? He said, swearing [indicating] with the internal lam on the action in the oath: ﴿Certainly, he will be thrown﴾ meaning he will be cast away after his death, as something very light and easy for every thrower, as indicated by the expression of throwing and by the passive construction ﴿in the Hutamah﴾ meaning the layer of fire which is characterized by breaking and shattering with severity and violence everything thrown into it, and he will be the most miserable of the losers. He expressed it in contrast to the readiness with wealth that leads to contempt for creation. The scholar Abu al-Hasan al-Harali said: For the meaning that is specific to the ruling, Allah, the Exalted, names it with one of its names, such as Jahannam in what is a confrontation, and such as the Hutamah in what is a recompense for the strength of oppression and readiness in number, and similar to that in all of its other names, and He magnified its status, glorified and exalted is He, by His saying:
