Commentary
And when He, glorified and exalted is He, mentioned their denial, that was perhaps a cause of despair for their submission and belief. And it indicated their complete destruction so that the resemblance to the earlier ones would be fulfilled. And he, blessings and peace be upon him, was very compassionate towards them and eager for their faith. So He, the Most High, followed it with His saying, clarifying that His knowledge of their division necessitated not destroying them: "And among them" meaning: your people, "is one who will believe in it" meaning: in the future, "and among them is one who does not believe in it" meaning: the Qur'an at all, even if he sees every sign. "And your Lord" meaning: the One who is kind to you by being gentle with your nation, "knows the corruptors" meaning: those who are deeply rooted in corruption, so He will deal with them in a way that will soothe your heart.
