Commentary
And when he clarified the state of virtue in those who do good, he clarified the state of justice in those who do wrong and said: ﴿And those who have earned﴾ meaning: among them ﴿the evils﴾ meaning: that surround them ﴿the recompense of an evil﴾ meaning: from them ﴿is like it﴾ by the justice of Allah without increase. ﴿And they will be covered by humiliation﴾ meaning: as part of their recompense. It is as if it were said: Is there a way for them to escape from that? It was said in response: ﴿They have no protector from Allah﴾ meaning: the Greatest King; and he emphasized the negation by saying: ﴿from a protector﴾ meaning: that prevents them from something He intends for them.
And when it was known that this changes their states, he connected it with his saying: ﴿As if﴾. And when the disliked is absolute in its state of having an evil appearance, his saying was built for the passive voice: ﴿Their faces will be covered﴾ meaning: it covered them with a covering due to the intensity of their darkness because of what they are in of evil ﴿in pieces﴾. And when the pieces are of the weight of grapes, shared between the darkness of the last part of the night and the gathering of the piece from something, he clarified and confirmed by saying: ﴿of the night﴾ meaning: this type while it is ﴿dark﴾. And when that was evident that they are the people of misery, he connected it with his saying: ﴿Those﴾ meaning: the distant, the hated ﴿are the companions of the Fire﴾. And when companionship is constant, he clarified it with his saying: ﴿They will be in it﴾ [meaning: specifically] ﴿forever﴾ meaning: they will not be allowed to depart from it; and raheq means the following of the matter, and from it: the boy reached the state of manhood; and qatar means dust, and from it is the stinginess in spending due to its scarcity; and dhillah means the smallness of the soul due to humiliation; and kasb means the action of bringing benefit to oneself or repelling harm.
