Commentary
And when the Lord, who is described by mercy, may not be a possessor, and the lordship cannot be complete except by ownership that is beneficial for the completeness of management, and the owner cannot be a king nor can his ownership be complete except by ownership that is beneficial for the honor accompanied by the awe that produces might and oppression leading to the authority of the matter, He followed that with His saying: "King of the Day of Judgment" as a warning from the might of His glory. Al-Harali said: And the Day is the measure of what a manifest matter is completed in it. Then he said: And "the Day of Judgment" in appearance is the Day of the manifestation of the truth's uniqueness through the enforcement of recompense, where the claims of the claimants fall. It is from the first day of resurrection to eternity, and it is in reality from the first day of the enforcement of recompense at the time of committing sin in the inner aspect of the doer, the effect of the action until its utmost end in its outer aspect. This is because the recompense does not delay from the sin, but it is hidden due to its occurrence in the inner aspect and its delay from the knowledge of its appearance in the outer aspect. For this reason, it is reported from him, blessings and peace be upon him: "When a servant sins, a black spot is marked in his heart." Also, every punishment that occurs in this world at the hands of creation is indeed a recompense from Allah, even if the heedless attribute it to circumstances, as they said: "Affliction has touched our forefathers, both harm and good" [Al-A'raf: 95] and they attribute it to the aggressors against them according to their claim. However, it is as He, glorified and exalted is He, said: "And whatever strikes you of calamity, it is for what your own hands have earned" [Ash-Shura: 30]. And as it has been reported from him, blessings and peace be upon him: "Fever is from the heat of Hell, and indeed the intensity of heat and cold is from its breath." It is the whip of recompense with which all the people of this world are struck. And it is the source of the frowning that they all will approach from where most of them do not feel it. He, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "Sickness is the whip of Allah on earth, with which Allah disciplines His servants." Likewise, what befalls them from the torment of the soul in the form of grief, anxiety, worry, greed, and other than that. And He, exalted is He, is the King of all of that and its Owner, whether a claimant claims it or does not claim it. He, exalted is He, by virtue of all of that is the King of the Day of Judgment and its Owner absolutely in this world and the Hereafter. And to the King, the truth, exalted is He, descends the high matter because by it the matter returns to the beginning with the recompense that returns to the effects of what they were created with from the attributes that manifest upon them from the actions, as He, exalted is He, said: "He will reward them according to their description" [Al-An'am: 139] and "A reward for what they used to do" [Al-Waqi'a: 24]. And by it, the end of the high honor is completed, which is the glory that He expressed in His saying: "My servant has glorified Me." It has ended. And when there is no difference here in the indication of ownership between the reading of "King" and the reading of "Owner," the narration has come with both. This is because the Owner, when added to the Day, indicates its specification with all that is in it of essence and attribute, so there is no matter or meaning for anyone with it except this. And when its addition to the people did not convey this meaning, there was no disagreement in "King of mankind" [An-Nas: 2].
