From among yourselves, of your kind and lineage, Arab Qurashi like you. Then he mentioned what follows from similarity and correspondence in results by saying, 'It is hard for him what you suffer,' meaning it is severe and difficult for him—because it is part of you—your suffering and your disliked meeting. He fears for you a bad outcome and falling into punishment. He is eager for you so that none of you deviates from following him and seeking happiness in the true religion that he brought. 'With the believers among you and others, he is compassionate and merciful.' And it has been read: 'from yourselves,' meaning from your noblest and best. It is said that this is the reading of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, and Fatimah and Aisha, may Allah be pleased with them. It is said that Allah did not combine two of His names for anyone other than the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, in the saying 'compassionate and merciful.' So if they turn away—if they disregard faith in you and oppose you—then seek help and entrust it to Him. He is sufficient for you against their harm; they will not harm you, and He is your supporter against them. And it has been read 'the Great' in the nominative case. And from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him: The Throne, no one can measure its worth. And from Ubayy ibn Ka'b: The last verse revealed was 'Indeed, there has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves.' From the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him: 'The Quran was revealed to me verse by verse and letter by letter, except for Surah Al-Bara'ah and Say, 'He is Allah, [the] One,' for they were revealed to me along with seventy thousand rows of angels.'
