Commentary
Indeed, it is the pronoun for the Creator, indicating creation upon it. Its meaning is: Indeed, that One who created man beginning from a drop is certainly capable of returning him, especially for the One who is capable, who does not delay in His action nor is He unable to do so. As He said: 'Indeed, I am poor.' On the day when the secrets are tested, it is connected to His returning. And for one who interprets the pronoun in His returning as referring to water, it is explained as returning to its source from the loins and the ribs or to the initial state. The hidden matters are what is concealed in the hearts of beliefs, intentions, and others, and what is hidden of actions. And its testing refers to knowing it and reviewing it, and distinguishing between what is good from it and what is bad. And from Al-Hasan, he heard a man reciting: 'It will remain for her in the hidden heart and the bosom a secret of love on the day when the secrets are tested.' If you seek solace from it, then Shafi' said: 'From love, the promise of solace is the graves.' It will remain for her in the hidden heart and the bosom a secret of love on the day when the secrets are tested. This is from Majnun of Banu Amir, the companion of Layla Al-Amiriyah. And 'solace' means to turn away from it and to refrain, and it is likened to the sending of love to him and carrying him on the continuity of affection by the words of the speaker in a declarative manner, and naming love as a mediator: it is a recommendation. And it may indicate that love has reached the peak of pleasure to the extent that it compels continuity of affection, thus removing from him others and attributing the action to it. It is permissible that it is a partitive indication that some of it is enough for intercession. And the word 'graves' means entering them, a metaphor for death. The intended meaning is permanence, as evidenced by what follows. And the hidden heart refers to what is concealed in the heart, or it is the heart itself. And 'tested' is built for the doer, meaning: it perishes. And it is possible that it is built for the object, meaning: it is examined. And 'the bosom' - with an open vowel - is an addition to the heart, indicating that love is also in other than his heart.
