Commentary
On the thrones, they look at those who laugh at them. That is, they laugh at them while looking at them and at what they are in of humiliation and smallness after honor and greatness. Among the types of punishment after the bliss and luxury: they are on the thrones, secure. It is said: a door to Paradise is opened for the disbelievers, and they are told: 'Come out to it.' When they reach it, it is closed behind them. This is done to them repeatedly, and the believers laugh at them. 'Thawbah' and 'athabah' mean, if he rewards him. Al-Aws said: I will reward you or he will reward you on my behalf, and it is enough for you that people praise you and commend you. It is said: 'Thawbah' and 'athabah' mean if he rewards him. The 'muthawab' is the rewarded one, meaning: I will reward you, O my horse, with myself, or he will reward you instead of me as a reward from another, or a reward arising from me. And it is enough for you from the people that they praise you and commend you. So upon you: the agent of the verb. It is permissible that the 'muthawab' is the one called to war, signaling with the edge of his garment, so that he may be seen from afar and be aided. And it was read with the 'lam' merged into the 'ta'. About the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him: 'Whoever recites Surah Al-Mutaffifin, Allah will give him to drink from the sealed nectar on the Day of Resurrection.'
