He inclines to him and towards him: when he leans. And peace is feminine, the opposite of it is war. He said:

"Peace takes from it what you are pleased with... and war is enough for you from its breaths, a few sips." [[Refer to the explanation of this evidence in the first part, page 252, if you wish, the corrector said.]]

And it has been recited with the opening of the 's' and with its breaking. And from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the verse is abrogated by His saying, 'Fight those who do not believe in Allah.' And from Mujahid, by His saying, 'So kill the polytheists wherever you find them.' And the correct view is that the matter depends on what the imam sees as beneficial for Islam and its people, whether it is war or peace, and it is not obligatory that they fight ever, or that they be responded to for a truce ever. And Al-Ashhab Al-Aqili read, 'So incline' with a 'd' and 'rely upon Allah' and do not fear their plotting in their inclination towards peace, for Allah is sufficient for you and will protect you from their deceit and trickery. Mujahid said, he means Qurayza.
