And the truth that they argued about with the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him: they received the call to arms, preferring it over receiving the caravan after it became clear following the announcement of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, that they would be supported. Their argument was: 'Our departure was only for the caravan, why did you not tell us so we could prepare and get ready?' This was due to their aversion to fighting. Then he likened their state in their extreme fear and terror as they were being led to victory and spoils, to the state of one who is being dragged violently to certain death, witnessing its causes, looking at them without doubt. It was said: Their fear was due to their small number, and that they were all foot soldiers. It was narrated that there were only two horsemen among them.
