Commentary
And that the mosques are among the things revealed. It was said that its meaning is: And because the mosques are for Allah, do not invoke with Allah anyone in the mosques, because they are exclusively for Him and for His worship. And from Al-Hasan: it means the entire earth, because it has been made a mosque for the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him. It was said that what is meant is the Sacred Mosque, because it is the qibla of the mosques. From it is His saying, 'And who is more unjust than one who prevents [others] from the mosques of Allah and his name is mentioned therein?' And from Qatadah: the Jews and Christians, when they entered their markets and churches, associated partners with Allah, so we were commanded to dedicate the invocation to Allah when we entered the mosques. It was said that the mosques are the seven parts of prostration. The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said: 'I was commanded to prostrate on seven bones: the forehead, the nose, the two hands, the two knees, and the two feet.' [Narrated by Al-Bazzar from the hadith of Al-Abbas with this wording, but he said, 'the face instead of the forehead and the nose.' And it was narrated by the four in the Sunan from his hadith with the wording, 'When the servant prostrates, seven bones prostrate with him: his face, his palms, his two feet, and his two knees.' And in the two Sahihs from Ibn Abbas, raised up, 'I was commanded to prostrate on seven bones.' And in one wording, 'members,' and in Abu Dawood, 'I was commanded,' and he said, 'Your Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, was commanded to prostrate on seven bones.')] And it was said that it is the plural of mosque, which is prostration.
