It is said: 'Leave me and him,' meaning all of it to me, for I will suffice him. It is as if he is saying: 'It is enough for you to leave his matter to me and let me be between him and you, for I will act according to what must be done to him, which he can endure.' The intended meaning is: 'My sufficiency is metaphorical.' The saying 'My sufficiency is metaphorical' refers to the known usage: 'Suffice it for you to be with me metaphorically' or 'Suffice it for Allah metaphorically.' This is for the one who denies the Qur'an, so do not occupy your heart with him and rely on me for vengeance against him, as a consolation for the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, and a threat to the deniers. 'He lured him to such and such': if he brings him down step by step, until he ensnares him in it. And the luring of Allah for the sinners is that He grants them health and blessings, so they make the provision of Allah a means and a ladder to increase in disbelief and sins from a direction they do not know, meaning from the aspect they do not realize is luring, which is His bestowal upon them. For they think it is a preference for them and a favor over the believers, and it is a cause for their destruction. 'And I give them respite' and I delay them, as His saying: 'Indeed, We give them respite so they may increase in sin.' Health, provision, and prolongation of life are kindness from Allah and a favor that obligates them to gratitude and obedience, but they make it a cause for disbelief by their choice. So when they gradually descend to destruction, the one who bestows is described as luring. And it is said: 'How many are lured by kindness towards them, and how many are deceived by praise of them, and how many are misled by covering for them.' And His kindness and enabling are called a plot, just as it is called luring, because it appears as a plot since it is a cause for entrapment in destruction. And it is described as strong due to the powerful effect of His kindness in causing destruction.
