Commentary
Allah is the One who created. This is a subject and a predicate. It was read: like them in the accusative, as an addition to the seven heavens, and in the nominative as a beginning, and its predicate is: from the earth. It is said: there is no verse in the Qur'an that indicates that the earths are seven except this one. It is said: between every two heavens is a journey of five hundred years, and the thickness of each heaven is likewise. The earths are like the heavens. The command descends between them, meaning that the command of Allah and His judgment runs among them, and His dominion is executed in them. And from Qatadah: in every heaven and in every earth is a creation from His creation, a command from His command, and a decree from His decree. It is said: it is what is managed in them from the wonders of His management. It was read: the command descends. And from Ibn Abbas: that Nafi' ibn al-Azraq asked him if there is creation beneath the earths? He said: yes. He said: what is the creation? He said: either angels or jinn. 'So that you may know' was read with a ta and a ya.
From the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him: 'Whoever recites Surah At-Talaq dies upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.' [Narrated by Al-Thalabi, Al-Wahidi, and Ibn Mardawayh with their chains to Abu ibn Ka'b.]
