Commentary
Do not let your wealth and the management of it distract you: and the striving to arrange its affairs: and the eagerness to seek growth in it through trade and exploitation, and the pursuit of offspring and the enjoyment of them, and the delight in its benefits. And do not let your children and your joy in them, your compassion for them, your provision for them, and the arrangement of what is suitable for their livelihoods in your life and after your death distract you. You have known the value of the benefits of wealth and children, and that they are the least and most insignificant in comparison to what is with Allah, in preference to the remembrance of Allah and prioritizing it over them. And whoever does that intends to be occupied with the world over the religion, then those are the losers in their trade, as they have sold the great everlasting for the insignificant perishable. It was said: The mention of Allah refers to the five daily prayers. And from Al-Hasan: all the obligatory acts, as if he said: obedience to Allah. And it was said: the Qur'an. And from Al-Kalbi: jihad with the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him.
