And certainly, the saying 'And indeed, the messengers before you were denied' is a consolation for the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him. Ahmad said: There is no evidence in it because it is consistent with the denial of the denial as well. Its position then in terms of virtue is clearer. That is, these people did not deny you, so it is right for you to be patient with them and not let their matter sadden you. If those before you from the prophets were denied by their people and they were patient with them, then since they did not deny you, you are more deserving of patience. It has come together, as you see, in both interpretations, but it is not from the angle that was used as evidence in it for the closeness of what was chosen. This is because such consolation has been explicitly mentioned in the saying, 'And if they deny you, then indeed, messengers before you were denied.' So it consoles him regarding their denial of him by the denial of others from the nations regarding their prophets. And it is nothing but a good interpretation that corresponds to reality, supported by parallels. And Allah knows best. This is evidence that His saying, 'For indeed, they do not deny you,' is not a denial of his denial, but rather it is like saying to your boy: They did not dishonor you, but they dishonored me for what they were denied and harmed for their denial and harm. And there is no changing the words of Allah regarding His promises, from His saying, 'And certainly, Our word has preceded for Our servants, the messengers, that indeed, they will be supported.' And certainly, news has come to you from the news of the messengers, some of their news and stories, and what they endured from the perseverance against the polytheists.
