Meccan [except for verses 20, 23, 91, 93, 114, 141, 151, 152, 153, which are Medinan]. And from Ibn Abbas: except for six verses, and its verses are 165 [revealed after Al-Hijr]. 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.'
He made it transitive to one object when it means to create and establish, as in His saying: 'And He made the darkness and the light.' And to two objects when it means to turn into, as in His saying: 'And they made the angels who are servants of the Most Merciful female.' The difference between creation and making is that creation involves the meaning of estimation. Then a Messenger came to you, confirming what was with him. His connection and entry into the ruling of the connection is in this way. However, there remains in this verse of Al-An'am a consideration regarding the meaning based on the mentioned grammatical analysis. It means that the estimation becomes: 'Praise be to Allah, who, those who disbelieved, equate (others with Him).' The occurrence of this after the praise is not appropriate, as you see. The correct view - and Allah knows best - is that it connects to the beginning of the speech, not to the connection. Allah is the Grantor of success. I said: Either it is based on His saying 'Praise be to Allah' in the sense that Allah is deserving of praise for what He created, for He created nothing but a blessing. Then those who disbelieved in Him equate (others with Him) and disbelieve in His blessing. Or it is based on His saying 'He created the heavens' in the sense that He created what no one else can create. Then they equate with Him what no one can do anything of it. If you say: What is the meaning of 'then'? I say: It is an expression of disbelief that they equate (others with Him) after the clarity of the signs of His power. Likewise, 'Then you doubt' is an expression of disbelief that they would doubt after it has been established that He is the One who gives them life and causes their death and resurrects them.
