Commentary
They oppose, they are hostile, and they contend. They are humiliated, disgraced, and destroyed, just as those who opposed the messengers before them were humiliated. It is said: Their humiliation was intended on the Day of the Trench. And We have sent down clear signs that indicate the truth of the messenger and the validity of what he brought. And for the disbelievers in these signs is a humiliating punishment that removes their honor and pride on the Day He raises them, standing before Him. Or in a humiliating manner. Or by implying 'mention' to emphasize the greatness of the Day, all of them together, none left unraised. Or gathered in one state, as you say: all together. Then He will inform them of what they have done, to shame them and rebuke them and expose their condition. They will wish at that time to be hastened to the Fire, due to the disgrace that will befall them before the witnesses. Allah has counted it, encompassing it in number, nothing of it has escaped Him. And they have forgotten it because they took it lightly when they committed it, not caring about it due to their severity in sins. Indeed, the significant matters are preserved.
