Commentary
The Day you will see is a context for His saying: 'And they will have a noble reward.' Or it is an accusative with an implied 'remember' to honor that day. He mentioned 'before them' and 'on their right' because the happy ones are given their records of deeds from these two directions, just as the wretched ones are given theirs from their left and from behind their backs. Thus, light is made a sign for them in both directions, because they are the ones who, by their good deeds, succeeded, and with their white records, they triumphed. When they are taken to Paradise and pass over the bridge, they will run: the light will run alongside them and precede them. And those who receive them from the angels will say: 'Good news for you today.' And it has been recited: 'That is the victory.'
