Commentary
They will call the angels, meaning each one is accused, the naming of the female. For when they say: the angels are the daughters of Allah, they have named each one of them a daughter, and this is the naming of the female by it, with knowledge, meaning by that and by what they say.
And in the reading of Abu: by it, meaning: by the angels. Or the naming does not avail anything from the truth, meaning that the truth, which is the reality of the thing and what it is, is only perceived by knowledge and certainty, not by suspicion and imagination. So turn away from the call of one whom you see turning away from the remembrance of Allah and the Hereafter, and does not desire anything but this world. Do not be eager for his Islam. Then He said: Indeed, your Lord is the Most Knowing, meaning that Allah knows who responds and who does not respond, and you do not know. So lower yourself and do not burden yourself, for you do not guide whom you love, and your duty is only to convey the message. And His saying, the Exalted: That is their extent of knowledge, is an objection or so turn away from him and do not confront him. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of the misguided and the guided, and He will reward them according to what they deserve of recompense.
