So flee to Allah, meaning to His obedience and reward. [Mahamood said: "The meaning of 'So flee to Allah' is: to His obedience from His disobedience and to His reward..." Ahmad said:

He carried the verse what it did not carry, for there is hardly a Surah that is free from being distorted in its interpretation to fit his belief. Here, he inserted the notion of the threat to the sinful and their eternity like the disbelievers, and the verse does not support what he mentioned. The focus in His saying 'So flee to Allah' is the fleeing to the worship of Allah. He warned those who do not worship Allah, then He prohibited His worshippers from associating anything with the worship of their Lord and threatened them for that. The benefit of repeating the warning is to indicate that worship is of no benefit with association, rather the ruling of the associator is like that of the denier and the nullifier. It is not as Al-Zamakhshari said: the command in the first is the prescribed obedience after faith, and he threatened the one who abandons it with the known threat of eternity. Based on this, it would not be a repetition with different threats; it is more appropriate. So how can the verse be interpreted contrary to what is more appropriate for it, to complete the argument for his corrupt belief? We seek refuge with Allah from that.] From His disobedience and punishment, and single Him out and do not associate anything with Him. He repeated His saying 'Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner' when commanding obedience and prohibiting association, to make it known that faith is of no benefit except with action, just as action is of no benefit except with faith, and that none will succeed with Allah except the one who combines both. Do you not see His saying: 'The faith of a soul will not benefit it if it had not believed before or earned good in its faith'? And the meaning is: Say, O Muhammad: So flee to Allah.
