O people of the Book, this is a speech directed to the Jews and Christians regarding what you used to conceal about the description of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, and regarding stoning. And He forgives much of what you conceal, if it is not necessary to reveal it for a religious benefit, and there is no advantage in it except for the requirement of a ruling and its description. This is something that must be clarified, as well as stoning, which revives the Sharia and abolishes innovation. Al-Hasan said: And He forgives much of you; He does not hold you accountable. Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book, referring to the Qur'an, to uncover the darkness of polytheism and doubt, and to clarify what was hidden from the people of the truth. Or because it is evident in its miraculous nature, whoever follows His pleasure, from those who believe in it, will find the paths of peace, the ways of safety and salvation from the punishment of Allah, or the paths of Allah.
