Commentary
Allah promised you abundant gains, which are what will come to the believers until the Day of Resurrection. So He hastened for you these gains, meaning the gains of Khaybar. And He restrained the hands of the people from you, meaning the hands of the people of Khaybar and their allies from Asad and Ghatafan when they came to support them. So Allah cast terror into their hearts, and they turned back. It was said: the hands of the people of Makkah by the treaty. And this is to be a sign for the believers and a lesson by which they know that they are in a position with Allah, the Exalted, and that He guarantees their victory and conquest over them. It was said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, saw the conquest of Makkah in his dream, and the visions of the prophets, may Allah's blessings be upon them, are revelation. So that was delayed until the following year, and the conquest of Khaybar was made a sign and a title for the conquest of Makkah. And He guides you to a straight path and increases you in insight and certainty, and trust in the grace of Allah.
